The Jing project was a team effort. The Project Manager, Tony Dunckel, posted a blog on the Jing website on July 13, 2007, Stating what exactly this Jing Project is...
"The Jing Project is our journey to discover how we can improve everyday conversation.
Think of all those IM chats, emails, blog posts and comments you’ve made over the years. Now imagine
a more visual world where integrating screen captures and screencasts into those took nothing more
than a matter of seconds. Can you imagine it? I can - I’ve seen it, I’ve lived it - it’s Jing."

Come again?:
Jing is free software that adds visuals to your online conversations. Instead of typing at people, show them what you're talking about...pronto!
ohh! so now what?
The Goal:
To explore this new idea and bridge the visual world and our daily conversations into a richer, more effective way to communicate
Wait? There's a sun on my desktop?
That's right! It's the Sun launcher. This will appear on
your desktop after you download the program It's discreetly tucked away
somewhere on the edge of your screen, always ready when you need to make
a capture.
It is really simple to use:
Mouse-over the sun and three little rays appear like so in the picture:
One is the Capture ball--that's how you start your capture...
The middle is your History--it keeps copies of your captures here...
The last one is the 'More' ball>--where settings and hotkeys are located...
