Habitat® Idaho Falls Area Affiliate Preparing for Build 25
Construction is expected to start in spring 2012, with completion of the build by the end of June. The home size and details will be determined by the needs of the Partner Family, which has not yet been chosen. If you or someone you know is interested in partnering with Habitat® on this home, please click here for information and application forms. If you are interested in volunteering on this home build, please click here. We need both forms and the safety course completion certificate from you before your first day of work on a build site. Please plan to get this information to us as soon as you can. Filling out the forms and completing the safety course does not obligate you to work on the build.

Builds 23 and 24 Tested for Energy Efficiency
by Vital Spec of Sun Valley, Idaho
Builds 23 and 24, which were dedicated on October 29, were tested by Jolyon Sawrey of Vital Spec Inc. for infiltration of the homes' thermal envelope and heating unit efficiency. The City of Ammon references the International Residential Building Code for the part of the Certificate of Occupancy inspection that evaluates the size and air delivery of the registers and the heating unit. Each home tested better than the city requirements. The International Energy Code evaluates infiltration of insulation, windows and doors.
Blower door test results show that these units peform 50% better than the code requires.
Jolyon's test results document that these two homes are the most energy efficient of the five homes built by Habitat® Idaho Falls Area that he has tested. Habitat's® mission is to build simple, decent, affordable shelter. Our Partner Families will live in comfortable, draft-free homes and spend a very modest portion of their budgets on heat.
Vital Spec donates more than 50% of their fees and travel costs to Habitat® Idaho Falls Area, about $1,141 to date. We are grateful for their ongoing support of the Habitat® mission. The company serves all of Idaho and western Montana.

As of October 22, the total volunteer hours for the current twin homes (Builds 23 and 24) is over 3,600. CWC residents contributed 984 hours from April through October 22 to the completion of these homes. Lowe's of Idaho Falls Donates Large Trees to Habitat
In June Habitat® Idaho Falls Area was fortunate to be selected to receive a major donation of large evergreen and deciduous trees from the Lowe's store in Idaho Falls. These trees will be planted this fall at the two Habitat® homes currently under construction, and will complete the landscaping at the two previous Habitat® homes. Our simple and affordable homes have a modest landscaping budget that cannot include trees of this size. Habitat® Idaho Falls Area and the four Partner Families who will receive these trees appreciate and are grateful for the support of community business partners like Lowe's as we work to build simple, decent, affordable housing.
