Box Truck Driver & ReStore Warehouse Associate

Reports To: ReStore Manager

Job Purpose

The Box Truck Driver & ReStore Warehouse Associate plays a vital dual role at Habitat for Humanity Idaho Falls Area ReStore. You will be the face of the organization while driving our box truck to safely pick up donations and make deliveries throughout the local community. When not on the road, you will work within our warehouse and retail space, processing inventory, assisting customers, and maintaining a safe, organized environment.

Every donation collected and item sold directly supports Habitat for Humanity’s mission to build affordable housing in the Idaho Falls area.

Key Responsibilities

Driving & Logistics (Estimated 50-60%)

Safe Vehicle Operation: Safely operate a 14-to-16-foot box truck to complete scheduled pickups and customer deliveries.

Donor Relations: Act as a brand ambassador. Interact professionally with donors, screen items for safety/acceptability based on ReStore guidelines, and issue donation receipts.

Loading & Securement: Safely load, stack, and secure furniture, appliances, building materials, and other heavy items in the truck to prevent damage.

Maintenance: Perform daily pre- and post-trip vehicle inspections (checking fluids, tires, lights, etc.) and keep the truck clean and fueled.

Warehouse & Retail Operations (Estimated 40-50%)

Inventory Processing: Unload the truck, screen walk-in donations, clean/repair items, and price inventory for the sales floor.

Merchandising: Move heavy items onto the showroom floor and organize displays to maximize sales.

Customer Support: Assist customers with loading large purchases into their personal vehicles.

Safety & Maintenance: Keep the warehouse, loading dock, and sales floor clean, organized, and free of hazards.

Qualifications & Requirements

Driving Record: Must possess a valid Idaho Driver’s License with a clean driving record (MVR check required). No CDL required, but experience driving box trucks or large commercial vehicles is highly preferred.

Physical Stamina: Ability to lift up to 75 lbs. regularly and up to 100+ lbs. with assistance or moving equipment (dollies, team lifts). Continuous standing, walking, bending, and lifting required.

Age Requirement: Must be at least 21 years old (for insurance purposes to drive the organization's vehicles).

Communication Skills: Strong customer service skills with a friendly, patient demeanor when dealing with donors, volunteers, and customers.

Background Check: Must be able to pass a criminal background check and drug screening.
